Cookin' Out with Friends

This was such a fun and BUSY weekend! Granny Sandy took us to a cookout at the Saluda River Club today, after visiting a church in Lexington this morning. By the end of the day, Addie was pooped! Here are some pics from the cook out.....

First Time in The Pool!

The word "fun" doesn't even describe it! I've always watched other moms with their babies in the pool, hoping that one day, when I had my own child, they would like the water just as much. Well, we found out yesterday, that Addie is a FISH! She was kickin' those legs, smiling, and making rasberry noises the whole afternoon! She (and 'we') have made some wonderful friends in Lexington. Thanks Sara, for letting us come to your pool yesterday. We felt like we were on vacation! I can already tell, it's going to be one fun summer!!!

"Park Fridays"

Our Little Gym group loves to go to the park on Fridays! Here we are with our "bugs": Addie, Kaitlyn, Natalie, and Lily

Snack Time!

Ok, so I said that this blog was for Addie, but ya'll know I love to cook! Every once in a while I may just have to post a recipe, for fun :)) I definately will post some baby food recipes that I've made, since some of you who read this make your own baby food too. This morning I made blueberry/pears for Addie with fresh blueberries, canned pears, and pear juice. She loved it, but it was a HUGE MESS!!! Her little face was purple, and of course, she sneezed in the middle of eating, so you can only imagine. I may have to post a pic later! This morning, though, I'm sharing my Bible Bread with you. It's SO good! You can get it in the freezer section of Earthfare and it's yummy with homemade hummus. For the hummus, process: garbanzo beans, olive oil, Tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and sea salt. You may have to add a little juice from the beans. YUM!! Spread it on this bread and you've got a really good, easy, healthy snack. Enjoy!

Why "Addie"?

When we found out we were pregnant, we immediately began talking about names...ok, truth be known, we talked about baby names when we were engaged! We had the boy name figured out pretty early on, but a girl's name? Not so much. We knew we wanted to somehow honor Mimi (my awesome, amazing, rock star, 95 year old grandmother) in the name, but just couldn't come up with the right fit. Pauline? Just wasn't working. So...one day, Brad and I went to lunch with Mimi and I asked her to tell us her FULL name. She said, "Addie Pauline Brown". WHAT?? Addie??? I had no idea! I kicked Brad under the table, and that was it, I loved it!

I looked up the name Addie to find it's meaning. Addie: noble and of kind spirit Well, that perfectly describes Mimi Brown! Here are some pictures of Mimi with Addie on Tuesday afternoon. She loves this baby so much and thinks Addie flew to space and put the stars in the sky! She tells everyone at the Martha Franks, about her "namesake"! Mimi, we can only pray that Baby Addie gets your incredible genes, your spunk for life, and your 'fight' attitude. Cheers to you, this May....your birthday month! Addie sends her love and lots of "sugar" (or 'sue-ga' as we call it! We love you! Oh, and I know you like that "thimble-size taste"of wine...If I could give you a sip, I would!
