A Week in Hilton Head!

I think these pictures say it all! We had one VERY happy baby on this trip! We spent 1 week in Hilton Head, with the Halls, Granny Sandy, and the was really fun! Lots of time on the beach and visiting Shelter Cove and Harbor Town kept us busy. Addie was in her element on the beach- laid back! She loved watching people, sitting in the chair Granny Sandy gave her (we still can't believe how long she sat in that chair!), and trying to eat the sand! The night before we left, Addie was fussy with a low grade fever and seemed out of sorts...we realized she has 2 more teeth coming in! Hard to believe she'll be 10 months old next week. Our sweet girl continues to grow so fast!

Tornado at Mimi and Granddad's House!

This has been one heck of a week for Mimi and Granddad... First, before we go on- One day, Addie is going to be confused by all of the "Mimi's" in our lives, so I'm going to clarify. Mimi Davis was what we called Dad's mom, Mimi Brown is mom's mom (who Addie is named after), and Mimi (simply, Mimi) is mom, Addie's grandmother. Ok, back to the difficult week they have experienced: First, I'm just going to say the words, my mom has breast cancer. Not easy to say, but it's the truth, and we are coping with this unwanted intruder the best we can. Mom is doing well after having surgery this past week. She will return to Duke on Monday to review the pathology report and go from there to create a treatment plan. It is likely that she will have another surgery, but only time will tell. As if that wasn't enough, they returned to Laurens the day after a tornado blazed through their neighborhood. Hard to believe? Here are the pictures to prove it! Brad, dad, and Steven have spent some hours sweeping, blowing, cleaning, and moving debris and trees, only to have another storm hit tonight. Their power is out again, but we must remind ourselves that they are SAFE and no one in our family was hurt, nor was there any major damage to the house (unlike our neighbors). We know that the Lord protected them, He knew mom had enough on her plate this week. Sometimes, I try to look at the world through the eyes of our sweet Addie- not a care in the world, so innocent, pure of heart....this week, I wish I could see the world in that way, but reality can sometimes be harsh and we must turn to our faith and remind ourselves of our many blessings. Speaking of blessings, enjoy the pics of our sweet girl with daddy, Mimi Brown, and Mimi- I couldn't just post the tornado pics, you'd be bored! Enjoy!

We had to take Addie to the doctor yesterday- apparantly, her reflux that she's had since very early on, is still giving her some trouble. I'm not posting about reflux, but rather her weight! Since, this blog serves as a way for us to keep track of Addie's life, growth, and "firsts", I wanted to put her new weight in here. She's 9 1/2 months and weighed 19lbs, 5 oz's yesterday! We're getting close to the big 20!

Playroom is Open for Business!

I knew that a playroom needed to be created, I just didn't know where, when, or how! Our house is small and our space is limited, but we realized that she has been confined to a pretty small play area for a while and a change had to take place- especially now that she is mobile! So....during her 1 hour (I repeat...ONE hour) afternoon nap today, Brad and I disassembled the guest bed, hauled the mattress and boxsprings upstairs, took the headboard to the garage, stored picture frames and decorations, vacummed the floor and brought in the toys! One hour later, when sweetness arised, she had this room all to herself! Here are some pictures of Addie's first visit into her very new, and not completed playroom! Fun, fun!

This Week at the Pool!

Before I talk about the pictures, I have to note that Addie crawled....yes, a REAL crawl, across the floor tonight before bed. We don't know if she'll do it again tommorrow, but we'll see!
This week, we spent some time at the pool with friends. I love this set of pictures, simply because of the "daddy time" Addie had in the pool. There's nothing like a dad with his daughter....enjoy!

Lapsit at the Library!

Our summer Library program has begun and the babes are back in full force! It's a large class this summer with lots of activity. When we started this program, Addie sat in my lap, very quietly and really never moved. My, how a few months make a difference! She loved tapping those sticks together today and even tried to crawl into the circle with the other kids! We love this program and even's FREE!

Good Times

I wish I could take a picture of Addie every times she strikes a pose, laughs, or gets caught getting into something she's not supposed to! She is so funny! At least I caught her in the act a couple of times! There are also some pics from Starbucks today with Kaitlyn and Emma Jane!
