Comfort Food

Ahhhhhh, I walk into our house from the zoo this morning, to the smell of our crockpot!! Inside, there is a gigantic roast, new potatoes, organic carrots, and onions with all kinds of seasonings and a gravy in the making! It's comfort food at it's best. We need some "comfort" tonight. Today would have been Brad's dad's birthday. It's always a sad day for him, as he lost his dad 12 years ago. We layed in bed last night talking about all kinds of "stuff" until midnight. We talked about heaven, about how how his dad would feel about certain things if he were here today. The world has changed in the last 12 years and so has Brad. He's now a father, a husband, and an amazing man. Brad's father would be proud of who he has become. There are people in this world who resist the process of growing up and the changes that might come along with that process. They like things the way they always have been. They have their minds set in one direction and that's the only direction they are willing to travel. They are proud. Brad is not that guy. He is ready to grow.  He is changing and using his gifts in different ways now, and it's awesome to watch. In fact, on the way to Charlotte this weekend, he said to me, that we are really starting to focus on what matters. He was speaking about the Lord's Will for our lives. We have been diligently praying for His Will and have left some pretty big decisions up to Him recently. I'm so proud of my husband. When he walks in the door from work, we all light up! Yep, we'll eat our "comfort food" tonight and praise God for the time Brad had with his dad here on earth. He will look foward to meeting him again, face to face one day, in the presence of our Almighty Father.
